the most ICONIC moment of the year, the club penguin halloween party was what i always looked forward to the most.

they switched up the art a lot for the 2013 party onwards, and while its a departure from that classic early club penguin look, i really enjoy it!! seriously you could never lose with the cclub penguin halloween party.

the most definitive club penguin halloween party for me that has continued to stick with me is the 2012 party, where a giant haunted mansion appeared and players could explore it and turn into ghosts. i have an entry on my blog dedicated to the haunted mansion (and how i recreated it in the sims 4), so check that out to get a more in-depth look at it!!

every year, animal jam would host the "night of the phantoms" party, where the evil recurring phantom villains would take over the world and everything would get super spooky and cool. i always loved the icky gooey phantom aesthetic so night of the phantoms always ruled in terms of hallowen aesthetics.

animal jam also used to host this annual halloween minigame called "bitter sweets" that i was totally addicted to, where you would play as your pet and collect candy in this halloween maze shaped like a phantom with 6 different halloween themed areas: a pumpkin patch, a haunted forest, a cemetery, a mad scientist lab, a swamp, and a cave. i am a sucker for awesome halloween theming so i would just play this game to wander around and enjoy the different areas.

Night in the Woods (2017) is not really a halloween game per se, but more of a quintessentially autumn game that makes me feel so cozy and apple cider-y, and was a dominating obsession in my life during high school. A portion of the game takes place on its fictional version of halloween, Harfest, so it does feature some halloween-y goodness. but overall the game is very spooky and haunting and midwest emo, and if you like the smell of fall leaves, cool autumn nights, and the aesthetics of a dying town haunting its residents, this is the game for you
